Automating Parking and Access at Vilnius Airport
The Challenge
At an airport, parking isn’t a convenience, it’s part of the operation. A jam at the drop-off zone or a payment terminal that’s slow to respond doesn’t just annoy a driver, it risks a missed flight, which makes reliability and speed non-negotiable in a way most parking sites don’t have to deal with. Vilnius Airport needed a system that could handle kiss and fly traffic, taxis, rideshare vehicles, and both short-term and long-term parking across multiple zones, each with its own access rules, without introducing delays anywhere in the process. Payment needed to be just as seamless, working for drivers paying by card or cash on site as well as those already set up through a third-party billing account.
On top of that, the airport had a specific and costly problem: taxis were exploiting the standard 15-minute grace period by circling the terminal and re-entering, resetting their free window each time and never actually paying. This congested the taxi lane meant for genuine passenger drop-offs.
The Solution
Entringo Parking runs on a fully ticketless, number-plate based system across the airport’s 16 checkpoints and gates and 7 zones. Vehicles are identified automatically at entry and exit, with no paper ticket to take, keep, lose, or scan. That number-plate record is the foundation everything else in the deployment is built on, from billing to grace time to the access rules for each lane.
On top of that, the deployment covers:
- 8 payment kiosks across the premises, supporting both cash and card payment
- Integration with Unipark’s billing system and mobile app, so drivers can pay ad hoc or reserve a parking spot in advance through their own account
- Pay-on-exit terminals at the main terminal exits, giving drivers a reliable fallback way to pay even if they haven’t used the app or a payment station
- Differentiated handling for kiss and fly, taxi, rideshare, short-term and long-term parking, and bus and VIP lanes, each governed by its own access rules within the same system
To close the taxi loophole, Entringo built a cumulative grace time feature specifically for this case. Instead of resetting a flat grace period every time a vehicle re-enters, the airport can configure a fixed total grace time across a set interval. Each entry and exit deducts the time actually spent on site from that pool, so a taxi circling the terminal uses up its allowance instead of resetting it. Once the pool runs out, the driver pays at the exit like anyone else.
The Results
- Parking access at the airport now runs without the manual bottlenecks or jams that a business-critical site like this can’t afford.
- Kiss and fly, taxi, rideshare, short-term, long-term, bus, and VIP traffic all move through one automated system, each under its own access rules, instead of relying on separate manual arrangements.
- Payment friction is largely gone. Drivers pay through the Unipark app or billing account, at a payment station on site, or as a last resort at the pay-on-exit terminals near the terminal building, so no one gets stuck unable to pay.
- The taxi grace-time loophole is closed. Circling the terminal to reset a free window no longer works, since the cumulative grace time pool tracks actual time spent on site across entries and exits.

Vilnius Airport is Lithuania’s largest civil airport, having served a record 5.1 million passengers in 2025. That volume puts constant pressure on the ground-access side of the operation: drop-off and pickup traffic that can’t back up, taxis and rideshare vehicles that need dedicated lanes that don’t get abused, and short-term and long-term parking spread across different zones around the airport that all need to stay accessible without slowing anyone down. Add bus lanes and VIP lanes reserved for authorized vehicles only, and very few sites have to manage this many categories of traffic at once with this little room for error.
Technical outcome
The site runs on 16 checkpoints and gates across 7 zones, covering kiss and fly, taxi, rideshare, short-term and long-term parking, and bus and VIP lanes, with 8 payment kiosks alongside the Unipark billing platform and pay-on-exit terminals at the main terminal exits.
What they got
Every vehicle category now moves through the same automated system, each under its own access and payment rules, without the manual bottlenecks a site like this can’t afford. The taxi grace-time loophole is also closed: circling the terminal to reset a free window no longer works, since the cumulative grace time pool tracks actual time spent on site.
Main improvements
Entringo Parking replaced fragmented, manual handling of a wide mix of traffic types with one ticketless system covering the entire airport site, from payment to lane-specific access rules to the airport’s own taxi grace-time policy.
